CIRCA Puerto Rico 09
Caribbean and Latin American Art

CIRCA Puerto Rico 09
April 17 -20 2009
The First International Art Fair in the Caribbean
San Juan, Puerto Rico (Fourth Edition)

CIRCA PR 09, fourth edition of the premier international art fair in the Caribbean and Central America, will be held from April 17 - April 20, 2009 at the new Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan.

THE CONCEPT FOR A CHALLENGING ART FAIR
In such a competitive world of art fairs, what makes CIRCA PR different? A quote from Artnet's editor Walter Robinson: "Well-organized and welcoming, Circa PR 08 presented an intimate collection of mostly emerging but sophisticated art". It's an art fair that's small in scale with 35 commercial galleries, and the friendly and exotic setting of Puerto Rico makes it a very nice distination. CIRCA PR redefines and embodies the concept of the ultimate art fair: intimate while intellectually challenging allowing gallerists, collectors and other art professionals to interact on a more personal one-to-one basis.

Open to galleries with an international focus on Modern and Contemporary art, especially young emerging art presenting painting, new media, installation, photography, sculpture, and video.

CIRCA Puerto Rico 08
International Art Fair

The Puerto Rico Convention Center will host CIRCA Puerto Rico 08, an International Art Fair. This will the third year that Puerto Rico will host the fair. Last year, the fair enjoyed 12,000 visitors and this year, the organizers are hoping to exceed more than 15,000 visitors. The art fair opens on April 11th and continues through April 14th.

In just two years, CIRCA Puerto Rico has shown its potential to give new visibility to the Caribbean art world where an exciting mix of regional artists, gallerists, institutions and collectors, together with a selection of young international galleries, offered a very personal and dynamic art fair. Among the highlights of the fair is “In the Spot”, a curated cutting edge artists’ section which offers curators the possibility of setting up a concept based exhibition from works exhibited at the fair and engage in a critical dialogue with the audience. Other sections include “Solo” in which individual artists present special projects, “District CIRCA”, where art publications present their latest editions, and a section for non-profit institutions.
